Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

As a relief from the several "women's pictures", such as Back Street and Imitation of Life, John M Stahl was making at Universal, he produced and directed this enjoyable but slight comedy drama set in the world of theatre. It stars Adolphe Menjou as an ageing matinée idol who won't admit that aspiring young actress Andrea Leeds is actually his daughter. Adding to the pleasure are Ann Sheridan, wise-cracking Eve Arden, and ventriloquist Edgar Bergen (Candice's father) and his celebrated dummy Charlie McCarthy.
