Johnny Depp's eclectic career has seen collaborations with a host of deeply idiosyncratic directors, from Jim Jarmusch and Tim Burton to Roman Polanski and Emir Kusturica. His own directing debut, however, displays little of their flair. It's a muddled and pretentious affair about a native American (played by Depp) who agrees to star in a real-life snuff film in order to provide for his family. Marlon Brando, who appeared alongside Depp in Don Juan DeMarco, co-stars in a movie that premiered at the 1997 Cannes film festival and quickly sunk without trace.
