Summary
A loafer and a manicurist, both planning to marry money, meet and form an uneasy alliance.
A loafer and a manicurist, both planning to marry money, meet and form an uneasy alliance.
A manicurist and a penniless playboy, each determined to marry money and betrothed to dull but appropriately wealthy partners, meet, fall in love, and break off their engagements. The simple plot services a superior romantic comedy, sparkling and witty and marvellously played by Carole Lombard and Fred MacMurray, both of whose progress into top stardom was hastened by the film's box-office success. Ralph Bellamy and Astrid Allwyn are the future spouses who are thrown over, and Mitchell Leisen directs with the lightness of touch you would expect from a Paramount production of the period.
