A dressmaker in an oil-rich town takes advantage of the area's newfound prosperity to launch a successful fashion business. Drama, starring Jane Wyman and Charlton Heston
Dressmaker Jane Wyman devotes herself to work and becomes a successful female fashion-house mogul, but the price of her independence is a rocky ride in her love life. Charlton Heston is the man involved in this particular battle of the sexes. The supporting cast includes Thelma Ritter and Claire Trevor (both irresistible) and a rare on-screen appearance from costume designer Edith Head, winner of eight Oscars for films like All About Eve and Roman Holiday. Haute couture, VistaVision and deft direction by Robert Parrish contribute to the enjoyment of this typical 1950s "woman's picture".
