Review
Director Diane Kurys also wrote the script for this highly rated French film, an insightful portrayal of early adolescence that was extensively based on her own experiences. The film follows a rebellious schoolgirl through her spell at a stuffy French lycée. It's a rollercoaster ride whose ups and downs encompass sadistic teachers and first periods, parental divorce and first love. Kurys would later draw on other life experiences for such films as Cocktail Molotov and C'est la Vie, but this is widely regarded as the best of her bunch.
