Review
Movie fact meets movie fiction in this low-grade supernatural thriller which seeks to exploit the real-life unsolved murder of Irish-born director William Desmond Taylor in 1920s Hollywood. When a rock video director moves into the former home of a murdered film-maker he cranks up an old moviola and the celluloid personalities inside come to life, including Mary Pickford and "Fatty" Arbuckle. It sounds great, but a messy script and cack-handed direction consign it to the bin, and stars Sean Young and Sally Kirkland look embarrassed to be there. Not surprisingly this mishmash of spooky chills, rock video, Hollywood history and soft-core porn was director Thomas Palmer Jr's one and only movie - to date!
