This is a musical remake of John G Blystone's 1923 comedy The Last Man on Earth. The plot finds heartbroken playboy Raul Roulien becoming the sole survivor of an epidemic called "masculitis", which has decimated the entire male population. Rescued from a desert island, he becomes the target of both gangster Dorothy Burgess and ex-fiancée Gloria Stuart. But much more intriguing are such futuristic details as the division of labour within the ruling matriarchy (unsurprisingly, the prettier girls get all the breaks) and scientist Edna May Oliver's attempts to construct a synthetic man. Flopping on release, it's creaky, but quirky.
