"I-yi-yi-yi-yi I like you vairy much" sings the one and only Carmen Miranda in, arguably, her greatest screen musical. This remake of Folies Bergère, later itself remade as On the Riviera (20th Century-Fox was renowned for recycling its plots) is really a vehicle for Don Ameche, in a dual role, and Alice Faye. But, from the opening, it's Miranda who runs away with the film. Whether chanting Chica Chica Boom Chic or romancing Ameche, she's the bee's knees. By the way, if you're lusting for Rio, this movie never leaves the back lot.
