A Burnley minibus dealer takes on the financial establishment in this crowd-pleaser of a movie, based on real events. Rory Kinnear is trustworthiness incarnate as Dave Fishwick, a bluff go-getter who lends money to his customers in a bid to help the local community. Joel Fry’s bumbling lawyer is won over by his endeavours, falling for Dave’s daughter (Phoebe Dynevor) in the process. The film rarely strays far from the expected path, yet its underdog spirit is hard to resist, with the excellent Fry lending his character plenty of Hugh Grant-like appeal.
