Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

No, not James Cameron's record-breaking Oscar winner, but an impressively staged earlier account of the tragic 1912 luxury-liner disaster from 20th Century Fox. This dramatisation of events may be inferior to both the film's 1997 namesake and Rank's 1958 film A Night to Remember, but it did pick up an Academy Award for its screenplay. Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb are top-billed as a couple trapped in a doomed marriage, while a young Robert Wagner romances the couple's daughter, Audrey Dalton.
