Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Snooze-worthy plotting and a bland character do Hilary Duff's big sister Haylie a major disservice in this insubstantial TV-movie crime tale. Still, she throws herself into it, emoting earnestly as a devoted nanny whose loyalty is tested after her wayward brother is suspected of murdering her boss's dad. Naturally, she insists he's innocent - despite both circumstantial evidence and the sinister camerawork suggesting otherwise - resulting in a contrived and lacklustre personal mission to clear his name. With nothing much happening, there's little suspense, a fact made worse by having the real killer's identity almost sprung on viewers via a ridiculous and abrupt personality shift. Ultimately, if it weren't for the overdramatic score you'd forget this is a thriller, until the inevitable cat-and-mouse climax finally brings a dash of excitement.
