Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Dependable comic actor David Spade finally cracked the big time with his role in the US sitcom Just Shoot Me. His success led to a starring role in this romantic comedy in which Spade plays restaurateur Dylan Ramsey who falls in lust with his attractive French neighbour Lila Dubois (Sophie Marceau). Lila dotes on her dog, and Dylan hatches a plan to get closer to her by kidnapping the pet and then helping her search for it. But all doesn't go to plan. Spade's smarmy persona is an acquired taste, so add a star if you're a fan, take one off if you find his bitchy asides and pointed sarcasm hard to take.
