Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

A minor costume drama, set in the 18th century, in which pretty Barbara Rush, as pretender to the Spanish throne, has to make a hazardous journey from Sante Fe to Monterey, in order to get a ship to Spain. A little excitement is engendered by a few villains, Indians on the warpath, and a bit of swashbuckling, but the dialogue, and direction (by Joseph M Newman) is rather soggy. So thank goodness for the dynamic presence of Jack Palance, now emerging as a leading man, who plays Rush's love interest, the intriguingly named El Tigre.
