Review
One-time prop boy, director Howard Bretherton was credited with over 100 features during his career, including several B-westerns with William "Hopalong" Boyd and Buck Jones. However, this Rin-Tin-Tin adventure was only his second outing and his inexperience occasionally shows through. Yet the action sequences are thrilling, particularly the legendary plunge into the waterfall by the dog star to rescue Dorothy Dwan from certain death. Rinty plays the Grey Ghost in this classic silent that also marked the screen debut of Rin-Tin-Tin Jr. The human cast simply can't compete with these majestic beasts, although every effort is made to win sympathy for crippled Billy Kent Schaeffer.
