Review
Touching, offbeat wartime drama that did not even get a video release in the UK. Gabriel Byrne is the British soldier in France in the latter years of the Second World War, who falls for a French girl (Marianne Basler) who may or may not be a collaborator. Although it's a little too downbeat for its own good, the two leads deliver moving performances and it's directed with some sensitivity by New Zealander Larry Parr. Look out, too, for a brief appearance from Judge Reinhold (Eddie Murphy's sidekick in the Beverly Hills Cop movies) in a rare straight role.
