How effective he’s been might be a point for debate but there’s no doubting that King Charles has been a vocal campaigner on environmental issues, making the point that humanity has lost its connection to the natural world and will pay a price for its hubris.
Now he’s on the throne, an ambitious doc co-produced by the King’s Foundation — and narrated by Kate Winslet — sees the monarch clarify his belief that “harmony” between man and nature is what we must strive for: visits to Guyanan forests and sustainable communities in India illustrate the point that greener ways of life have become a necessity. Charles III has a way with a relevant aphorism: “We are a part of it,” he says of nature, “not apart from it.” As well as outlining next steps, the film also looks at Charles’s attempts to wake the world up to the problems a lack of respect for the environment has caused.
