Hired to investigate forged bonds, Charlie is thwarted by the murder of his undercover agent, but the arrival of son Lee helps him uncover the true culprits.
Produced by Sol M Wurtzel, who later supervised 20th Century-Fox's other Oriental sleuth series, Mr Moto, the seventh case featuring Warner Oland is notable primarily for the introduction of Keye Luke as Lee Chan (otherwise known as "Number One Son"). Together they make short work of a gang of counterfeiters plaguing the City of Light with a batch of forged bonds. Toss in a little blackmail and murder and you have a sturdy thriller, briskly directed by Lewis Seiler and given added interest by the appearance of Erik Rhodes, Fred and Ginger's regular sidekick, in a rare dramatic role.
