Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

The corridors of television are littered with pilots for unoptioned series. Even though this tough take on Happy Days boasted the young Ray Liotta, David Caruso and Michael Paré in the leads, the schedulers still weren't convinced. There is little wrong with director Lee Philips's re-creation of the sights and sounds around New York's Rockaway Beach, circa 1955. So it must have been the fact that audiences had tired of rock 'n' roll nostalgia by the time this TV movie aired. The plot follows the boys as they rumble with greased street gang The Deacons while trying to get to first base with clotheshorses Talia Balsam and Annette McCarthy.
