Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Be warned: writer/director Ken Wiederhorn, who also made Meatballs 2, likened this movie to the Police Academy series. It's certainly true the emphasis is on humour at the expense of horror - most of it, it must be said, unintentional. Once again small-town America is overrun by brain-eating zombies, the by-products of toxic waste from bacteriological warfare, which has seeped into a local graveyard with familiar results. And it's up to the usual motley crew of teens to sort it out. This predictable sequel is dull and repetitive. Even the gore bores after a while and the zombies look like rejects from Michael Jackson's Thriller video. "Just when you thought it was safe to be dead," said the poster. In fact, the scariest thing about this movie is the dawning realisation that a part three was bound to follow.
