Summary

Horror comedy starring Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland. A small town in northern California hides the darkest of secrets. It's a place where a Vampires Everywhere comic could save your life and where, if you are very unlucky, you'll never grow old, you'll never die and you'll always have fresh blood to drink.

Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

There's a nasty surprise in store for divorcee Dianne Wiest when she moves her family to a small town on the Californian coast. The local teenage gang is actually a pack of punk vampires with designs on her teenage sons (Jason Patric and Corey Haim). This quintessentially 1980s tale is a slick attempt to update the bloodsucking genre for the MTV generation, blending Hollywood glitz with pop culture references. Kiefer Sutherland's role as the charismatic leader of the vampires is an early career highlight - he makes being undead seem very cool. And the comic pairing of Coreys Haim and Feldman is an enjoyable counterpoint to the sometimes gory horror. While it's not quite as original or witty as it could have been, this unashamedly glossy take on vampire mythology has a clever script that's packed with twists, and builds to a surprisingly tense climax.
