Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

In the phenomenally successful Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus plays a normal schoolgirl by day and secret pop sensation by night. This documentary record of the 15-year-old superstar's American concert tour sees the ever-exuberant Cyrus sing her vanilla power-pop hits first in character and then as herself. Between the songs are backstage glimpses of tour producer Kenny Ortega (director of the High School Musical movies) rehearsing the team, Cyrus sharing intimate moments with real-life father and screen dad Billy Ray (of Achy Breaky Heart infamy) and footage that captures the determination of fans to secure tickets for the sold-out shows. Shot in digital 3D for a wholly immersive on-stage experience - raised audience hands continually provide startling depth - the movie will keep tween fans entranced. Adults will probably just be bored and mystified.
