The Case of the Lucky Legs

The law and Perry Mason are on the trail of a crooked sponsor of "best legs" contests. When he is found murdered, however, the hunt becomes one for his killer. Warren William, the best of the actors to play Erle Stanley Gardner's lawyer/sleuth, stars in this entry, with Genevieve Tobin providing a vivacious Della Street. The script is so relentlessly jokey as to bury any possibility of excitement or interest in the over-complicated mystery. William, though - a sort of cut-price William Powell - is fine, as are the rest of the cast under Archie Mayo's direction.
