Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

A film of sledgehammer subtlety, with circus juggler Kirk Douglas as the Holocaust survivor who makes it to Israel where he searches for the wife he knows is dead and where, too, every Israeli soldier at the refugee camp is mistaken for a Nazi. A small boy helps him escape to Egypt where Douglas has friends he believes will help him. Made with noble motives, the film's maudlin sentimentality soars right off the scale and for Douglas, who devoted months to learning how to juggle, it's possibly the worst film of his career.
