Fantasy adventure based on the books by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, starring Freddie Highmore and Sarah Bolger. When twins Jared and Simon Grace and their sister Mallory move into their aunt's dilapidated house in the country, they are drawn into a magical world that reveals the strange history of the property and of their family.
Freddie Highmore, (Charlie in the Johnny Depp Charlie and the Chocloate Factory movie), plays identical twins – angry Jared and peace-loving Simon – in this spooky fairy tale. When the Grace family move to a creepy old estate, they discover it’s populated by all manner of goblins, ogres and boggarts. With the evil magical creatures out to take over in all manner of violent ways (maybe too scary for the very young) the twins and sister Mallory go into battle.
