A Disney wildlife adventure about an Irish setter called Big Red and the young orphan boy who trains him. Their friendship is put to the test when old curmudgeon Walter Pidgeon decides to split them up. Romantic interest is provided by a female Irish setter, reinforcing the impression that the dogs are far more human than anything on two legs. Set in Quebec along the mighty St Lawrence river, this is a movie of unspeakable treacliness.
