Lois Thorndyke (Nancy Allen) works for The Informer, at one time a crusading newspaper run by her father, but now a sleazy scandal sheet. Sent to interview the mayor of New York (Laurence Luckinbill), Lois finds his campaign plans in a mess and agrees to help out - without revealing her links to the muckraking Informer. A romantic subplot links Lois to timid photographer Barry Denver (David Naughton). This 1980s attempt to capture the flavour and style of a 1940s screwball comedy never quite comes off, but delivers plenty of fun along the way.
