Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

The life lessons come thick and fast in this sugary morality tale about following your dreams no matter what. Betty White, star of TV's The Golden Girls, sparkles as the titular headstrong pensioner who embarks on an eventful 2,000-mile road trip to scatter her late husband's ashes at his favourite beauty spot. With Annie's aspiring singer granddaughter (Amy Davidson) as a reluctant companion, the two generations find themselves bonding over a series of mischievous escapades. The film is corny, predictable and relentlessly manipulative, but it still leaves you with a warm glow when the end credits roll.
