Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon

Released to much ballyhoo in India, this is a hugely disappointing reworking of the 1970s feature Chit Chor. Everything is played at fever pitch, whether it's spoilt Kareena Kapoor's frequent tantrums or Johny Lever's foolish antics with the family pets. Even Hrithik Roshan overdoes the charm as the gregarious employee of bashful American-based tycoon Abhishek Bachchan, who is mistaken for Kareena's prospective husband until her grasping mother, Himani Shivpuri, intervenes. It's a simple comedy of errors, but the action is unnecessarily strung out by director Sooraj R Barjatya and Anu Malik's musical numbers do little to up the tempo.
