Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Warner Oland's 11th outing as Earl Derr Biggers's Oriental detective was directed by Harry Lachman. Set to investigate the murder of circus owner Paul Stanton, Oland uncovers a conspiracy involving blackmail, forged documents and a gorilla suit. However, there's also time for Number One Son Keye Luke to provide some comic relief, as his agrizoophobia ruins a hot date. Midget siblings George and Olive Brasno come close to stealing the show, but there's stiff competition from fellow suspects Francis Ford (brother of director John Ford) and J Carrol Naish, who played Chan on TV in the 1950s.
