Originally released under the title Follow That Camel, this disappointing spoof on Beau Geste was only later added to the Carry On series and there's no denying it sits uncomfortably alongside the rest. Although many of the regular team are on duty at Fort Zuassantneuf, the presence of Phil Silvers overbalances the story. There are comic oases along the way, however, with the Mustapha Leek joke being the most memorable, but too much emphasis is placed on Silvers's "Bilko of the Dunes" routine, while many of the other Foreign Legion gags are shamelessly borrowed from Laurel and Hardy's Beau Hunks.
