Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

James Stewart made some amiable movies during the 1960s, lightweight fluff, invariably in CinemaScope and colour, that warmed the heart without stretching the brain. Here he's married to the lovely Maureen O'Hara, and the slight plot is encapsulated in the title. Contemporary heart-throbs Fabian and John Saxon add to the period charm, and the ingénue is Cliff Richard's flame from Summer Holiday, Lauri Peters. It's all rather endearing in a ramshackle kind of way. Incidentally, the film is based on a novel by Edward Streeter, who also wrote Father of the Bride. Watch out for some nice digs at Psycho, then fresh in movie-goers' memories.
