Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Steve Morrissey

The third outing in 25 years for Vermont's stupidest cops is better than it has any right to be. It mostly revolves around the upcoming marriage of Farva (Kevin Heffernan) and the sister of fellow cop Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), while the other state troopers try to stem the flow of a dangerous drug coming out of Canada. The wonky plot is enough to hold together skits on everything from electric vehicles to condoms and snakes. There's even one about a man inserting his hand up the wrong end of an elephant. Crude and low it may go, but there are also sparkling moments of satire and jabs at liberals and their so-called cultural (in)sensitivities, as well as Heffernan just being funny by sheer effort of will. Chandrasekhar once again directs, giving the whole thing a Police Academy meets The Dukes of Hazzard vibe. All this, plus Brian Cox, who's back for little more than a cameo - he's welcome and funny, as is the film.
