Action thriller starring Sophia Loren and James Coburn. Millionaire Carl Stegner is wanted by the US government on charges of tax evasion and fraud. But Stegner, the third richest man in the world, lives in a heavily guarded mansion in the Caribbean. The only way to get Stegner to America is to kidnap him, and this is where bounty hunter Jerry Fanon is called in.
One of the easiest jobs in film criticism is to knock the work of Michael Winner. But he's not always deserved the pannings he's received and this fast-moving (if admittedly empty-headed) thriller is no worse than many other luxury location jaunts that have escaped without censure. From the opening scene in which Sophia Loren's husband is killed, to the highly predictable dénouement, there are explosions and car chases aplenty. On the plus side, Loren and James Coburn do make an attractive couple and any film featuring OJ Simpson now has added interest. Winner also edited the film under the pseudonym Arnold Crust.
