Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Just 12 years after the end of the Second World War, this action-packed feature shows that not everything the Allies attempted resulted in success. A swaggering Hardy Kruger is excellent as Franz von Werra, the Luftwaffe pilot who not only escaped from several camps in this country, but who also absconded from Canada and crossed America in his bid to rejoin his outfit. Directed at a fair clip by Roy Baker, this true-life tale is more notable for its fair-minded approach than for its thrills, but still delivers the occasional exciting moment.
