A 17-year-old girl runs away from her East Coast home, going west to Los Angeles to meet her biological father. She has learned from letters her mother kept that he was tragically separated from her before the girl's birth. On the road, she is protected and befriended by an independent-minded young drifter who helps her on her journey.
One of the results of a Universal Studios policy in the mid-1960s to encourage inexperienced talent - and it shows. A young woman (Celia Kaye), in search of her birth parents, crosses America bound for LA. On the way she hooks up with a young ne'er-do-well (Michael Parks). The set-up is of course a familiar one, but this highly visual film is watchable thanks to cinematographer Conrad Hall (whose first major studio film this is) with some bright moments.
