Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Sadly, nothing to do with Werner Herzog's Woyzeck, but a run-of-the-mill Canadian TV movie, starring John Vernon, a veteran of over 40 features, mostly as untrustworthy friends or outright villains. With that sort of track record and those familiar shifty eyes, it's slightly difficult to accept him as a good guy, but he's solid enough as a doctor returning from a long spell in Africa to combat racial prejudice and injustice during a complex immigration case. Such important issues deserve a more intelligent discussion than they are given here, but at least the film's heart's in the right place.
