Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Obsession usually makes for good drama, but not this time. The kidnapping of Wall Street stockbroker Nastassja Kinski by enthralled Arab prince Ben Kingsley is an up-market white-slave story that looks ravishing, though nobody really gets ravished. The trouble is the prince is too sensitive for his own good or for his victim's bad. Rudolph Valentino in The Sheik wouldn't have stood for such nonsense. It all fizzles out in a welter of silly talk and a supposedly ironic ending - an ending that can't come soon enough.
