Summary

Romantic comedy starring Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell and Dylan McDermott. Tycoon Charles Newman is worried that his girlfriend Amy's eye is beginning to wander, and so when he meets Oscar, whom he believes to be gay, he thinks he has found the perfect person to befriend Amy and report on any men she might be attracting. But has Charles made a misjudgement about Oscar's sexuality and only succeeded in putting more temptation in Amy's path?

Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

This sweet if somewhat politically incorrect romantic comedy barely made a dent at the US box office. It's worth watching, however, for a nice performance from Matthew Perry and a hilarious one from Oliver Platt, who seems to be making a career of being the best and funniest thing in average movies. The plot is simple. Big businessman Dylan McDermott thinks Perry is gay, so he asks him to watch over his mistress (Neve Campbell), little realising that Perry is falling for her. Perry has to keep on pretending to both McDermott and Campbell, because he and business partner Platt (who really is gay) stand to lose an important business deal if he doesn't. Cute rather than uproariously funny, this is still proof that Perry could make it on the big screen - if only he had sharper material.
