The Spring

Kyle MacLachlan, one-time star of Twin Peaks, finds himself in another eccentric situation while on a camping trip in this ropey sci-fi drama. Director David Jackson's fanciful treatment of Clifford Irving's novel sees MacLachlan's son, played by Joseph Cross, needing hospital treatment in an isolated town where the inhabitants take advantage of a water source that seems to offer the promise of eternal life. There is, of course, a catch. The discussion of potentially serious issues is necessarily superficial and the overall atmosphere twee, but MacLachlan is quietly convincing. Clint Eastwood's daughter, Alison, plays a nurse at the hospital.
