When a woman loses her child, this traumatic event takes her to the edge of sanity. However, the child suddenly appears which is impossible... or is it?
The most surprising thing about this far-fetched drama - which owes more than a little to Ghost - is that it was co-written by Ronald Bass, whose other credits include Rain Man, Dangerous Minds and the Julia Roberts comedy My Best Friend's Wedding. Marlo Thomas stars as a mother who is so grief-stricken at the death of one of her young twins that she finds consolation only in the periodic visits of his spirit. That excellent actress Lee Grant directs without undue reliance on tear-jerking melodrama, but the rift that develops between Thomas and her neglected husband Peter Strauss, and their eventual making-up, follows entirely predictable lines.
