Thriller starring Charles Bronson, Jill Ireland and Rod Steiger. Charlie Congers is a tough Phoenix City policeman with a seemingly impossible mission - to break a crime network headed by Mafia boss Joe Bomposa. Charlie's job is made more difficult by the syndicate's vast financial resources, which pay for intimidation by violence and corruption of the law.
Charles Bronson stars as an American policeman on a mission to break a crime syndicate in Switzerland, in director Stuart Rosenberg's dull and predictable thriller. Rather surprisingly, Bronson struggles to portray the toughness required of his role, while Rod Steiger goes way over the top as a Mafia boss. Only Jill Ireland impresses as the gangster's moll who Bronson believes can bring about the downfall of Steiger. For a thriller, this is short on love and bullets, though unintentional laughs can be had from watching Steiger in Mussolini-mode, and the Swiss locations are breathtaking.
