Suspense thriller based on the Stephen King novella Secret Window, Secret Garden, starring Johnny Depp and John Turturro. Successful author Mort Rainey is suffering from writer's block after the disintegration of his marriage. But his personal problems escalate into a nightmare when a menacing stranger turns up on his doorstep, accusing him of plagiarism.
After adapting Richard Matheson's chiller Stir of Echoes, director David Koepp tackles Stephen King's novella Secret Window, Secret Garden with this suspenseful psychological thriller. In another of his eccentric performances, Johnny Depp stars as a successful author whose writer's block is nothing compared to the hell that he encounters when menacing stranger John Turturro accuses him of plagiarism. Although the film unfolds in a similar fashion to another King book, The Dark Half, Depp's emotional seesawing and Turturro's furrow-browed intensity are entertaining and unnerving in equal measures.
