A former war hero and midget car racer meets his match in a feisty reporter who blames his reckless tactics for an accidental racing death.
Old hands Clark Gable and Barbara Stanwyck star for veteran MGM director Clarence Brown in an efficient, straightforward movie that combines motor-racing action with drama and romance. Gable is a champion midget-car driver, hated by the crowds after the death of another driver in an accident for which he is held responsible. Journalist Stanwyck tries to get his side of the story, but he won't talk. After she witnesses another fatal on-track accident in which he's involved, she bad-mouths him in the press. Needless to say, neither the action nor their relationship stops there.
