Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

The ever-amiable James Garner is the best thing in this Disney family movie about the first big cattle ranch to be set up in the Hawaiian islands. Garner plays a Texan cowboy who helps pretty widow Vera Miles convert her land from potatoes to beef. Robert Culp is a shady operator and Garner's romantic rival, and there are various "noble savages" on hand to cause trouble. The main location is the island of Kauai, whose dramatic mountains and beaches are familiar to everyone thanks to South Pacific, Blue Hawaii and Jurassic Park.
