Action comedy starring Sylvester Stallone and Estelle Getty. Tough cop Joe Bomowski has been policing the mean streets of LA for years. But then Mom comes to visit, witnesses a murder and decides she knows best how Joe should handle his job and his love life.
This was the comedy that finally seemed to convince Sylvester Stallone that he wasn't really very funny; after this he was back to the action-adventure genre with Cliffhanger. In this inane, woefully joke-free example of Hollywood conceptualising and very little else, Stallone plays the tough detective whose life is ruined when his eccentric mother Estelle Getty turns up to stay with him. Director Roger Spottiswoode once looked set for great things, but he makes a mess of this uneasy mixture of comedy and action, although the dire script hardly helps.
