Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

This B-movie thriller about a robbery that goes horribly wrong vaguely resembles The Asphalt Jungle, which was made in the same year, while its ironic climax was copied by Stanley Kubrick in his 1956 movie The Killing. Director Richard Fleischer is clearly working on a shoestring budget, but that doesn't hinder his creation of suspense or atmosphere. The cast, alas, is distinctly third-rate, as typified by the grumbling performance of Charles McGraw, who plays the cop on the case.
