Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

This predictable wartime story about an inexperienced officer (Michael Caine) leading a unit to blow up an enemy fuel dump has its moments, especially when roguish Nigel Davenport is around, but not many. Co-written by Melvyn Bragg at his least cultured and directed by Andre De Toth at his most action-led, it's another take on Robert Aldrich's The Dirty Dozen. Sadly, though some of the skirmishes do have an impact, this isn't in the same class.
