Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Swedish actor Warner Oland makes his ninth screen appearance as fabled Oriental sleuth Charlie Chan in this vintage tale of intrigue and murder. The suave Chinese detective is back on his home turf here, investigating an international opium ring. However, this is more of a children's picture than a smoky, sinister excursion, with "Number One Son" (Keye Luke) taking up a lot of the screen time.
