Never Wave at a WAC

Review
Delightful, light-hearted farce in which a divorced Washington hostess joins the Women's Army Corps in order to get to Paris and meet her boyfriend. Rosalind Russell (whose husband produced the film) has fun playing the unworldly heroine - when she goes to sign up, she takes her secretary with her to fill in the forms - and when not in uniform she wears a succession of eye-catching James Galanos gowns. When the script flags, the top-flight cast, including Paul Douglas, Hillary Brooke and (especially good) Marie Wilson, keeps things bubbling. Much of the film was actually shot at the WAC training centre in Fort Lee, Virginia.
