Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Low-level slapstick and incessant toilet humour is aimed squarely at the under-nines in this weakly plotted comedy. BD Wong embarrasses himself playing an uptight headmaster who is subjected to all manner of painful indignities after five mischievous pupils (the charmless "Stinkers" of the title) liberate a sea lion on a school trip to the local aquarium. Free Willy meets Home Alone as the well-intentioned quintet continue to run rings around a host of idiotic adults - including some unfortunate crooks and bizarrely accented teacher Jennifer Coolidge - in their bid to release the flatulent critter back into the ocean. Undiscerning youngsters might revel in the energetic silliness, but the over-stretched material is unlikely to find many grown-up fans.
